Herbert E. Willans, 90, of Gladstone, Mo. passed away November 27, 2015. Memorial services will be 10:00 am Saturday December 5th at Terrace Park Funeral Home (169 Hwy & Shoal Creek), with visitation preceding services 9:00 – 10:00 am. Burial in Terrace Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Wounded Warrior Project.
Herbert was a proud Army veteran of World War II, receiving 2 purple hearts. He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman, who enjoyed cooking, baking and gardening. He was a lifetime member of the N.R.A., American Legion and V.F.W.. He was a licensed commercial pilot in international air freight with approximately 30,000 flight hours. He was a personal pilot for Harry S. Truman in his early political years. Herbert was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Mary Willans, 2 sons, Tom and Paul Willans, brother, Cecil, and cousin, Harriett.
