Helen Louise Appleby, 85, of Kansas City, MO passed away on September, 3 2020. Helen was born on August 31, 1935 in Kansas City to Harold and Virginia (Wagner) Mills. She graduated from East High School. During this time she met the love of her life, William Appleby Jr., while working together at a doughnut shop. William and Helen were married on April 3, 1954 and from this marriage had four children. Family was always most important in her life and she took great pride in being a homemaker. She, along with her family, moved to Albuquerque, NM, where they lived for six years before returning to Kansas City. Later in life, she began working for Sears and retired after 15 years as a computer operator. Helen and William loved taking trips to Las Vegas and dancing. They especially enjoyed ballroom dancing and disco, and even taught dancing for a short time. Helen is preceded in death by her parents; husband, William Appleby Jr.; and brother, Stanley Mills. She will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by her children, Bill Appleby, Joyce Amador, Linda Griffin and James Appleby; grandchildren, Burt, Sheryl, Emily, Michael and Andrea; great grandchildren, Lucas, Nathan, and Tyler; and her beloved dog, Roxanne. Funeral services will be held at Terrace Park Cemetery – Lakeside Chapel on Tuesday, September 8th at 1:30pm, with visitation 30 minutes before, and burial following.
