Harry Cowden died at the age of 94 on March 30, 2017 at North Kansas City Hospice House. He was born in Kansas City, Kansas on February 6, 1923 to Clarence and Frieda Cowden. He had a brother Clarence Jr. and sister Louise. He was married to Joan Mayden on June 12, 1948. They made their home in Kansas City, Mo and were the parents of 5 children. Harry served in the United States Army from 1943 until Nov 1945 where he received a Purple Heart for his service. Harry was employed at Dairy and Creamery Company for 35 years as office manager. He retired to a life of fishing and mowing grass.
Harry is survived by his children-Steve(Macy) Liberty, MO-Les (Elaine) Gladstone, MO-Jill Sanders(Ron) Holt, MO-Karen Stankovich(Paul) Westfield, IN-Reid(Rita) Overland Park, KS.
He is also survived by eight grandchildren and eight great- grandchildren, sister Louise York and four nieces and nephews as well as friends.
He was predeceased by his wife Joan in September 2002, his brother Clarence and parents.
There will be a small grave side military service for close family at Terrace Park Funeral Home and Cemetery. The family request no flowers.
