Harold Young

January 12, 1920 — October 21, 2016

Harold E. Young, 96 of Kansas City, MO, died on Friday, October 21, 2016, at NorthCare Hospice House.  He was born in Kansas City, MO to the late Adam and Anna (Hess) Young on January 12, 1920.

Harold worked for Display Studios Inc. where he started sweeping floors and retired as the company’s President.  He proudly served in the U.S. Army Medical Corps during WWII.  He and his wife Dorothea were founding members of Platte Woods United Methodist Church and a member of the Tribe of Mic-O-Say. He was a very skilled craftsman, building an airplane in his basement, with the forethought on how to get it out. He was a private pilot and after retiring spent winters in Arizona.  While in Arizona he would work in as a Silversmith.  He had pride and perfection in everything he did.

He is survived by his wife of 74 years Dorothea (Andrews) Young; sons David (Sheila) Young and Roger (Cheryl) Young and daughter Michelle (Jeff) Grace. Grandchildren; Janice (Virgil) Evans, Sarah (Rick ) Link, Dan (Kim) Young, Christine Santos, Andrew, Phillip and Adam Grace.  10 Great-grandchildren  and 3 Great-great-grandchildren. Sister Patricia Young.

In addition to his parents, Harold is preceded in death by his brothers Arthur and Richard Young.

Visitation will be Tuesday, October 25, 2016, from 10 AM until time of service at 11 AM at Terrace Park Funeral Home, 801 NW 108th St. (169 Hwy & Shoal Creek) Kansas City, MO. Interment with military honors will follow at Terrace Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to NorthCare Hospice 2800 Clay Edwards Drive, Kansas City, MO 64116.
