Harold Koch

Harold Lee Koch, 83, of Kansas City, MO passed away on January 15, 2020.

Harold was born on February 11, 1936 in New Blaine, AR to John and Magdalena Koch. Nestled in the foothills of the Ouachita mountains, Harold grew up on the family farm where he learned the importance of hard work by milking cows by hand and raising livestock. He graduated from Subiaco Academy and spent a short time in seminary school. He married, Betty McClung, on August 30, 1958 and from this marriage they had two sons. Harold worked in the grocery business for 45 years until he retired in 1999. In his spare time, he enjoyed woodworking and was involved with his children’s boy scout troops as a Scout leader and the Tribe of Mic-o-say. He was also a proud member of the Knights of Columbus, where he achieved the highest rank as a 4th degree Knight. Harold and Betty attended St Charles Borromeo for many years before joining St. Andrew Catholic Church in 1990, where they made many lifelong friends. They enjoyed traveling, especially to Hawaii and Alaska, and took their family on many road trips. Harold is preceded in death by his parents; brother, John Koch; and sister, Marietta Schneider. He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his wife of 61 years, Betty; children, Michael (Julie) and Chris (Teresa); grandchildren, Courtney, Logan, Magdalena, and Patrick; and brother, James Koch.

A visitation will be held at Terrace Park Funeral Home (801 NW 108th St KCMO) on Sunday, January 19th from 6-8pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Andrew Catholic Church (6415 NE Antioch Rd, Gladstone, MO) on Monday, January 20th at 11:00am, followed by the interment and Terrace Park Cemetery.
