Gregg W Reed

October 31, 1949 — December 12, 2024

With incredible sadness and heavy hearts we announce the passing of Gregg W. Reed. Gregg was a beloved husband, father, uncle, son, and friend to all that got the privilege to know him. He passed away at his home on December 12, 2024 after fighting a long battle with two different types of cancer. Gregg loved his family and life tremendously. His quick wit, charismatic personality, and unconditional support for those he loved will be missed terribly.

Gregg was born in Kansas City, MO October 31, 1949 to Marian and Roseph Reed. They moved to Grain Valley, MO where Gregg quickly shined and became an extraordinary football player. He would go on to receive a scholarship to play football with Central Missouri State University; however with Vietnam approaching Gregg would end up being drafted. Serving his country for six years Gregg was honorably discharged. It was soon after that he met the love of his life, the one that was with him until the very end, Carol Anne Reed. They were married 53 years.

Gregg was a member of the First Baptist Church of Grain Valley. Later in life he went on to graduate with honors from Park University. Gregg was firm in his conservative beliefs and loved Jesus with all of his heart. One of his favorite pastimes was the great game of golf and reading any novel written by Stephen King or Dean Koontz. He truly just enjoyed a good joke, family gatherings on the 4th of July, and traveling to new places with his wife.

He is survived by his wife, Carol Reed. Three daughters, Kerri, (Chris Dolman), Melissa, and Sarah. Christopher, Sarah’s husband, he always considered more than just a son-in-law but an actual son. Six grandchildren; Hailey, Lauren, Ana, Olivia, Gregg, and Colton. Nephew, Lee Reed, niece Amanda, and their spouses. Preceding him in death were his parents, brother, aunts and uncles. The loss of Gregg has left a permanent void in our hearts. We are comforted in knowing that we will meet him again some day.
