Grady Gibson

March 25, 1930 — October 17, 2013

Grady D. Gibson, 83, passed away October 17, 2013 at NorthCare Hospice. He was born March 25, 1930 to Grady R. and Amelia E. (Hill) Gibson in Birmingham, Alabama. Grady graduated from Northeast High School in 1947 and Central Missouri State College in 1951.  He married Louise Menter on September 3, 1950 spending 63 wonderful years together.   Grady was a Scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 357, Sachem in the Tribe of Mic-o-say, and made three trips to Philmont. He retired from the Purchasing Dept. of Armco Steel in 1981 after 30 years. Grady spent his time doing home improvements, restoring his Model A, and taking daily walks with Louise.  He was a member of Avondale United Methodist Church.Grady was preceded in death by his parents and eldest son, Grady Lee Gibson. He is survived by his sister, Pauline Swim, wife, Louise, daughter, Paula Veal (Dennis), sons, David (Gina), and Gary, 6 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and many friends. Funeral Services will be held Monday, October 21, 2013 at 11 a.m., at Mount Moriah Terrace Park, 801 Northwest 108th Street, Kansas City, Missouri  64155.   Visitation will be 10 a.m. prior to the service.  Burial in Mount Moriah Terrace Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Avondale United Methodist Church, 3101 Northeast Winn Road, Kansas City, Missouri  64117.
