Glendon L. Williams, Sr.

Glendon L. Williams, Sr., a devoted husband, loving father, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on September 30, 2024, at the age of 94. Born on March 23, 1930, Glendon lived a full and vibrant life, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and a spirit of adventure that touched all who knew him.

Glendon was not only a man of unwavering faith but also a beacon of light within his community. He dedicated countless hours to teaching Sunday school. His hands always found work, whether he was tending to his beloved garden, tinkering in his garage, or helping neighbors in need. Described by many as a hard worker who was always willing to lend a helping hand, Glendon instilled the importance of kindness and generosity in those around him.

Though Glendon carried a profound dedication to his family and faith, he also lived for adventure. In his younger years, the thrill of racing cars filled his heart with joy, showcasing his love for speed and competition. He cherished the simple pleasures of life, whether it was mowing the lawn, playing horseshoes in the backyard, or casting a line during fishing trips which he relished so deeply. His passion for the outdoors transformed life’s moments into lifelong memories, particularly while hunting with his older sons, where laughter and camaraderie flowed as freely as the love binding them together.

Traveling hand in hand with his beloved wife and partner Minnie, of 74 years, Glendon created a tapestry of shared experiences as they journeyed across the country, diligently marking off the states they visited together. Their bond was a testament to unwavering love, as they explored new horizons and made memories that would last a lifetime.

Glendon's life mirrored the beauty of the world around him, from the tranquility of nature during fishing escapades to the thrill of competition at the bowling alley. He was a quintessential outdoorsman whose heart was as vast as the landscapes he adored.

Glendon was preceded in death by his parents, Noal and Janie Williams; children: Michael Williams, Glenda Lancaster, and Connie Garifo; grandchild: Amy JoBeth Williams; siblings: Donna Faye Wiliams, and Junior Williams; as well as his brother in law: Junior Havice.

He is survived by his children: Chester (Kathy) Williams, Richard (Rosie) Williams, Randall (Gail) Williams, Belvia (Ron) Baker, Terry (Sue) Williams, Glendon (Carol) Williams, Jr., Eddie (Terry) Williams, Sandra Brower, Patricia (Russell) Scott, Kevin (Leah) Williams, Daniel (Docia) Williams, Sheila (Lance) Carpenter; 21 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; and his siblings: Bonnie Havice, Lawrence (Debbie) Williams, and Mary Ellen Pope.
