Glen Wiggs

February 14, 1938 — May 16, 2019

Reverend Dr. Glen Franklin Wiggs, 81, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away, surrounded by his family, on May 16, 2019.

Glen was born on February 14, 1938, to James and Myrl (Blackman) Wiggs in Dexter, Missouri.  He was a 1955 graduate of Bernie High School, where he met the love of his life, Peggy Jean Bates.  They were married on November 18, 1954.  Glen continued his education at Oakland City College, Oakland City, Indiana, and then attended Southern Baptist Seminary, Louisville, Kentucky, and completed his Doctorate of Ministry at St. Paul School of Theology, Kansas City, Missouri.

Over a span of five decades, he pastored at numerous churches throughout the state of Missouri.  He was a member of the 32nd Degree Masonic Lodge and a member of the Christian Motorcycle Association.

Motorcycling was a giant part of his life, including trips to Alaska and throughout the United States.  His sense of adventure didn’t stop there; traveling the globe with his Peggy Jean, family and friends.

Glen is preceded in death by his parents and four siblings.  He is survived by two siblings, J.D. Wiggs and Lois Roberts; his wife of 64 years, Peggy; children, Jan (Greg) Wiley, Kim (Jim) Henzi, Marlye (Bud) Laub, Rob (Gay Lynn) Wiggs; grandchildren, Sarah (Trevor) Bash, Laura (Mitch) McGuire, Rebecca Van Tol, Hunter (Amanda) Reeves, Emma Wiggs, Hannah Wiggs, Danny Wiggs; and great grandchildren, Olivia, Jillian, Lucas, Alexis, Nolan, Gavin, Brady, Mackenzie and Jaxson.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 22, 2019, at 4:00pm, with funeral service at 6:00pm, at Good Shepherd United Methodist Church, 9555 North Oak Trafficway, Kansas City, Missouri 64155.  Private interment will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Glen to the Good Shepherd United Methodist Church - Guatemala Mission Fund.
