George Calvin BlairOctober 1, 1926 – November 15, 2012Kansas City, Missouri – After 86 years, George Calvin Blair, loving husband and caring father, was called home by his Lord and Savior on November 15, 2012. He was born on October 1, 1926 in Wilkinsburg, PA to the late Virginia Ruth Blair. After attending high school in Pittsburgh, PA he joined the United States Coast Guard during WWII. When the war ended, George returned to Pittsburgh to marry and attend college at the University of Pittsburgh. Upon graduation, he entered into an extensive career as a transportation and distribution executive retiring in Kansas City. During retirement, George worked for the State of Missouri and then for Park Hill South High School. He was a member of the Good Shepherd United Methodist Church, enjoyed firearms and hunting, history, reading, and spending time with his family.He is survived by his wife Ona Marie (Black) Blair and his children; George ("Skip"), Judy, Jeff and Barbara. Additionally, George is survived by 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.Services will be held at Mount Moriah Terrace Park Cemetery, 801 Northwest 108th St, Kansas City, MO, at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 21, 2012. No visitation or public graveside service is planned. He will be deeply missed.
