Gary A. Sayers, 69, of Smithville, Missouri passed away peacefully on Monday November 16, 2015. Funeral services are 11:30 am Saturday November 21st at Terrace Park Cemetery Lakeside Chapel (169 Hwy & Shoal Creek), with visitation preceding services 10:00 – 11:30 am. Burial in Terrace Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the American Heart Assn.
Gary was born in Grand Forks, North Dakota to Genenieve Hanson Sayers and James Sayers on May 23, 1946. Gary lived most of his life in Kansas City, Missouri and resided in Smithville, Missouri. He attended the University of Missouri, Kansas City. Following school, Gary began his career with TWA and later retired from American Airlines after 36 years of service. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his son, Jason. Survivors include his wife, Mary Lou Sayers, daughter, Laura Gore, and husband, Andrew, 2 grandchildren, Daniel and Julia, 2 sisters, Cyndee Noble, Terri Adams, stepdaughters, Bobbie Walthall, Sherri Molde, and numerous nieces and nephews. Gary was a loving “Papa” to his 2 grandchildren who he adored. He also loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, bowling, golf, and woodworking. Being an avid sports fan of the Missouri Tigers, KC Chiefs, and the KC Royals, Gary was thrilled when he was able to watch his favorite baseball team, the KC Royals, win the World Series.
