Galena White

June 22, 1932 — January 23, 2016

Galena Vivian Snyder White, 83, of Kansas City North, entered peacefully into her eternal rest with the Holy Father at Riverside Nursing and Rehab Center in Riverside, MO. Saturday, January 23, 2016.  She was born to Burt Murrel Snyder and Galena Pauline Crabtree Snyder on June 22, 1932 on the family’s farm near Lowry City, Missouri.  She loved her eight years of schooling at the local Denny School in St. Clair County and high school at Lowry City.  She always spoke fondly of her first 18 years in the Lowry City area, despite having lost a younger brother and both parents during that time. She left the area in 1950 and worked in Kansas City on both sides of the state line until her marriage to her soul mate, Bob White in 1953, at Kansas City Baptist Temple (now Graceway) while Bob was on leave from the U. S. Army.  Together they raised their four children, living in the Northland 55 years.  She worked for Dart Truck Company for 12 years, and another 12 years at Farmland Industries, retiring in 1997.  Galena was a faithful member of Antioch Bible Baptist Church in Gladstone.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Wayne Elvin Snyder and Roy Owen Snyder, and sons Philip Murrel White and Paul Michael White, and is survived by her husband, son Joel Alan White (LeRae), daughter Janice Ann White Fowler (Rodney), sister Rosalie Bunch, nine grand children, nine great grand children and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held at Antioch Bible Baptist Church, 800 N.E. 72nd St., Gladstone, on Saturday, January 30.  Visitation with the family will begin at 1:00 pm and the service will begin at 2:00 pm.  Interment will follow at Mt. Washington Cemetery, Independence, Mo.  Galena loved flowers, but City Union Mission, The Salvation Army and Alzheimer’s Association were among her favorite charities.  Arrangements entrusted to Terrace Park Funeral Home (169 Hwy and Shoal Creek Pkwy). Online condolences may be shared at TerraceParkFuneral.com.
