FRANK B. WALTER
Our Beloved Christian Gentle Man
January 21, 1928 – January 3, 2017
Frank B. (Francis) Walter was born January 21, 1928, in Pony, MT, to Charles H. and Nina (Drake) Walter. He helped work the family ranch and graduated from high school in Drummond, MT. He went on to get a business degree at Kinman Business College in Spokane, WA, where he also met the love of his life, Betty Jean Lay while she was also attending college. They were married on July 9, 1949, in Spokane on a day that was so hot the candles melted.
Frank was called up as an Army Reservist to serve during the Korean War in Fairbanks, AK. Betty joined him there where they lived in a small travel trailer until they moved “up” in the world to a small apartment when their first baby was expected. Larry Lee joined their family on June 9, 1952. Even though Frank’s tour of duty had completed, they had to wait two weeks after he was born to leave Alaska and return to the lower 48 States due Army flight restrictions.
Frank worked for an auto dealership as their bookkeeper in Lewistown, MT, which was Betty’s hometown. They’re second child, Linda Lynnette joined the family just after Christmas on December 28, 1955.
Frank transferred to Shelby, MT, in 1956 to work with another auto dealership until he accepted a position as office manager for Marias River Electric Coop from which he retired after 30 years of employment. Frank and Betty moved to Sun City West, AZ, to spend a wonderful 18 years of their retirement. They moved to Riverstone Residential Living Center in Kansas City, MO in June 2011.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents and three siblings and two son-in-laws. He is survived by his wife, Betty Walter; his son and wife, Larry and Jessie Walter; his daughter and husband, Linda and Richard Canida; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
