Francis Ray Wallis, 84 of Platte City, MO died at his home on Sunday, December 20, 2015. He was born in Kansas City, KS to the late Martin and Lillian (Williams) Wallis on October 25, 1931.
Ray attended Prairie Point Elementary, a one room school-house and graduated from Parkville High School in 1950. He entered the Army in February 1952 and served with the 35th Infantry Regiment during the Korean Conflict. He married Polly Lutz of Jefferson City; Missouri on January 20, 1956 at St. Therese Parish. Ray was a deputy sheriff in Platte County under Sheriff John Lowmiller. He received a Distinguished Service Award from Parkville Chamber of Commerce in 1959. In 1961 Ray joined the United States Marshals Service and served as a deputy U.S. Marshall until he reached the mandatory retirement age of 55 in 1986.
He was the loving husband of Polly Wallis, father of John Wallis, Julie Wallis and Margaret (Jim) Baber. Cherished grandpa of Jessica, Jenna and Kaleb Baber. In addition to his parents Ray is preceded in death by his brother Kenneth.
Visitation and Service will be Wednesday, 23, 2015 Terrace Park Funeral Home’s Lakeside Chapel. 801 NW 108th St. (169 Hwy & Shoal Creek) Kansas City, MO. Visitation will begin at Noon, Funeral service with military honors will begin at 1 PM. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
