Frances Kay Coomer, born on March 19, 1949, passed away peacefully on November 5, 2024. Frances lived a full and vibrant life, dedicating herself to her family and her career.
For 37 years, Frances served diligently at Forest T Jones, where she managed the Missouri State Teachers Association Account. Her commitment and work ethic earned her the respect and admiration of colleagues and clients alike.
An ardent supporter of her family, Frances was actively involved in her grandchildren's lives, attending their sporting events and school plays with great enthusiasm. In her earlier years, she also dedicated time as a Girl Scout leader for her daughters' troops, helping to mold the lives of young girls and instilling in them a sense of confidence and community.
Frances’s personality was a delightful blend of love and mischief. Those who knew her recognized her loving yet ornery spirit, making every gathering memorable with her wit and warmth. She had her hobbies and interests that brought joy to her life, including Karaoke, crocheting, stamp collecting, and she made wonderful memories attending the Renaissance Festival. Frances was also a fan of Harry Potter. A passionate supporter of the Kansas City Chiefs, she shared this enthusiasm with her loved ones, creating lasting memories around shared interests.
Frances is preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Velma Coomer; her brothers, Jim Coomer, and Don Coomer.
She is survived by her daughters, Laura Mae Garcia (Nahum), and Dana Marie Barbosa (Dominic); her sister, Vada Caroline Henke; grandchildren, Jason, Todd, Isabella, and Dominic; and great-grandchildren, Tessa and Lillian. As well as many other family members and friends.
A memorial service to honor Frances will be held on November 22, 2024, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Terrace Park Funeral Home & Cemetery in Kansas City, Missouri.
