Florene Smith, 88, of Blue Springs, Missouri, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2016. She was born November 21, 1928 in Borger, Texas to the late George Kenneth and Nola Reeves.
After graduating high school, Florene continued her education at the Kansas City Conservatory of Music where she was a piano major. She met Byron Smith in 1953, fell in love and they were married three months later. Florene and Byron remained married for over 50 years before his passing.
Florene and Byron both sacrificed their needs and desires to give the best life they could to their children and grandchildren. This was best demonstrated by the care and love they gave to their eldest son, Greg, who has been severely, mentally handicapped since birth.
Florene is preceded in death by her husband, Byron Smith and 4 siblings, Kenny Reeves, Gene Reeves, Roger Reeves and Carol Reeves Shaker.
Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, Greg, Doug (Stephanie) and Scott Smith; grandchildren, Rebekah (Andrew) Smith, Josiah (Lacy Marie) Smith, Hannah (Blake) Lamb and 5 great-grandchildren, Malachi, Amos, Tallulah, Clementine and Scout.
Visitation will be Saturday, Nov. 26, 2016 from 10-11 AM at Terrace Park Funeral Home, 801 NW 108th St. (169 Hwy & Shoal Creek) KCMO. Service to follow at 11 AM at the chapel with interment in Terrace Park Cemetery.
