Lora Faye Moody 88, of Kansas City, Missouri passed away peacefully, Friday, May 20, 2016. The last 2 ½ years she struggled with the effects of a stroke. She was born November 19, 1927 in Alluwe, OK to the late David and Delta (Russell) Parker.
Faye graduated from Business College in 1947, worked for Phillips Petroleum Company before attending Oklahoma Baptist University where she met and married Rev. Owen D. Moody in 1950. Her life can be summarized by the words “Service to Others”. Faye supported her husband in the pastoral ministry for over 40 years, 26 of which were at Gashland Baptist Church, KCMO. They retired in 1990 from the pastorate, but Faye considered it a privilege to continue to minister in various ways for the rest of her life.
Those left to cherish his memory include her, son, David (Terri) Moody, daughter, Janna (Denny) Porterfield, 3 grandchildren, Maggie (Scott) Bennett, Nikki (Ryan) Sanneman, Jessi (Brandon) Fogal, 6 great-grandchildren, Brady, Charlee, Sophi, Mikala, Bonni and Tristan
In addition to her parents, Faye is preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Owen Moody and 6 siblings.
Visitation will be Tuesday, May 24, 2016 from 5-8 PM at Gashland Baptist Church, 601 NE Barry Rd., KCMO 64155. Funeral service will be Wednesday at 10 AM at the Church. Interment in Terrace Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to The Jesus Film (Jesusfilm.org) or Give Bible League (Give.BibleLeague.org).
