Evelyn Marie Crownover, 97, of Boone County Arkansas, went to her final rest on Thursday November 10th. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years Barton Daniel Crownover. She was also preceded in death by her parents - Findley and Mary Florence (Wilson) Kelly, sisters - LouElla Kelly and Mary Lois (Kelly) Beck, son - Earl L. Crownover, and Grandson Anthony Crownover. She is survived by sons Michael (Sandi) Crownover and David (Cookie) Crownover, grandchildren Brian Crownover, Kelly Crownover, Kevin Crownover, Christopher Crownover, Christy (Shawn) Crownover Sandell, Chad (Emily) Crownover, Jessica Crownover, and Deb (Koop) Crownover, and great-grandchildren Brandon Crownover, Jemma Crownover, Beckett Sandell, Brontë Sandell, and Journey Crownover.
She was raised on a farm outside of Harrison, Arkansas and went on to earn her teaching degree at Arkansas State Teachers College in Conway, Arkansas. After a short teaching career, she married Barton Crownover on December 21st, 1946. She and Barton moved to the Kansas City area where they raised three boys. Marie was devoted to her boys and would do anything for them. She was also a kind care-giver for her many grandchildren. Family was very important to her, and she cared for Bart at home until his battle with prostate cancer took him in January of 1996.
In their spare time on the weekends, Marie and Bart had a stall at the Farmer’s Market in Parkville, Missouri they sold honey products they raised and Marie would sell bundles of wildflowers she collected from their yard. Marie was also an active member of the neighborhood luncheon club and garden club for many years. Marie was a member of Park Hill Baptist church in Parkville, Missouri for much of her adult life. She also loved watching and cheering for the Kansas City Royals and Kansas City Chiefs.
A visitation and funeral service will be held Thursday November 17th at 10:00 am at Terrace Park Funeral Home at 801 NW 108th Street, Kansas City, MO. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Park Hill Baptist Church in Parkville, MO.
