Eulia Wisby

Eulia Marie (Gage) Wisby, 95, passed away on January 21, 2019.

Eulia was born on September 21, 1923 to Lloyd and Minnie (Holland) Gage in St. Charles, MO. As a child she moved to Kansas City along with her mother, brother, and sister. She graduated from West Junior High and Central High School in Kansas City, MO. Shortly after graduating she was engaged to Walter Wisby in October of 1941 and they were married that same year on December 24th. In the early years of their marriage Walter joined the US Coast Guard, which led them to live in Washington for a few months, but they soon moved back to the Kansas City area, living in Shawnee, KS. In 1954 they bought 8 acres on the outskirts of Edgerton where they would live and raise their family for more than 50 years. Eulia spent the majority of her adult life as a homemaker, caring for her family. She and Walter enjoyed taking their children camping and fishing. Eulia was very talented and creative, especially with her cross stitching. She also enjoyed gardening and after Walter’s retirement they spent much of their time traveling the country visiting family, in their motorhome.

Eulia is preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Walter V. Wisby; her parents; sister, Fern Goodwin; brother, Harold Gage; son, James L. Wisby; and grandchildren, Patrick and Christy Buckler.

She is survived by her children; Walter (Stacy) Wisby Jr., Ginny (Edward) Gunter, Martha (Jerry) Buckler, John (Roxanne) Wisby, Nancy (Ron) Glover; grandchildren, Michael (Lesia) Shanks, Shelly Blakely, Jeffrey Shanks, Leesa (Bryan) McBroom, Jessica Walker, Walter Wisby III, Krystal (Aaron) Schion, Kimberly (Adam) Coles, Kevin (Tia Marie) Wisby, and Lynell Wisby; 19 great grandchildren; 3 great-great granddaughters; sister in-law, Mary Cook; and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at Terrace Park Funeral Home on Monday, January 28, 2019 at 2:00 pm, with visitation beginning one hour prior. Private burial to follow.
