Elizabeth Ann Reinert (“Liz”), 59, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at North Kansas City Hospital. Liz, a lifelong resident of Gladstone, Missouri was born on May 7, 1962 to Charles David and Mickey (Davis) Reinert.
Liz earned a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Missouri and a Master’s degree from the University of Missouri Kansas City. Although stricken with Muscular Dystrophy in childhood and limited in mobility Liz was an educator and an active advocate for the disabled serving on the Missouri Governor’s Council for the Disabled and the recipient of the Robert Moss MDA National Personal Achievement Award in 1992.
Liz never felt sorry for herself. Instead of focusing on what she couldn’t do, she focused on how she could live more fully. She traveled abroad on a solo trip to India; later travelling through the Mediterranean, Europe, and the Appalachians. After the death of her mother in 2001, Liz lived alone, independently, with a life filled with the love of dear friends, neighbors and family.
Elizabeth was predeceased by her father Charles David Reinert, mother Mickey Davis Reinert, brother-in-law, Bill Ledford, beloved dogs Katie and Patch. She is survived by her sister Susan Ledford of Kentucky, brothers Bill (Pam) Reinert and Steven (Jackie) Reinert of Colorado. She also leaves behind those many close friends and neighbors.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Contributions may be made in her memory to your favorite charity or animal rescue.
