Edna A. Compton, 93, of Lee’s Summit, MO passed away May 30, 2015 at her home. Graveside services will be 10:30 am Friday June 5th at New Hope Cemetery, Liberty, MO. Visitation will be 6:00 – 7:00 pm Thursday at Terrace Park Funeral Home, 169 Hwy. & Shoal Creek Parkway, Kansas City, MO. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Martin Luther Lutheran Church, 1200 SW Blue Parkway, Lee’s Summit, MO 64063.
Edna was born September 24, 1921 to William and Sophia (Buchholz) Kepler in rural Avoca, NE. She was one of ten children. She moved to Kansas City as a young adult and was married to Jack Sparr until his passing on June 30, 1970. She then married Ralph Compton until his passing on May 2, 2002. After moving to Kansas City, she worked at The Forum Cafeteria, Allstate Insurance and Youthcraft Coats and Suits, retiring in 1989.She enjoyed square dancing, playing cards, reading books, working jigsaw puzzles and up until earlier this year bowling. Edna was a member of Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Lee’s Summit. She was preceded in death by her husbands, 3 sisters, 6 brothers, 3 nephews, stepdaughter, Donna Jean and step son in law, Mike Anderson. Survivors include her nephew, Bill Kirchhoff and wife , Nancy, in addition to 29 nieces and nephews, sister in law, Dawnie Kepler, 2 step daughters, Barbara Anderson, Kathy Altenhofen, and husband, Keith, three step grandchildren and 3 step great grandchildren.
