Edith "Edee" Chaney Smith Mollnow 1926 - 2013Edee Mollnow, 86, of Kansas City, MO, formerly of Perry, NY, passed away Thursday, August 29, 2013 at the home of her daughter and son-in-law after being with them for the past five years. A celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at 1 p.m. at Gashland Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 8029 North Oak Trafficway, Kansas City, MO with Pastor Ritchey Cable officiating. The family suggests memorial contributions to be made to the Perry Public Library, 70 N. Main Street, Perry, NY 14530. Edee was born on October 24, 1926 in Toledo, OH and was the daughter of Gail Bryan Chaney and Mary Frederica Schad Chaney. She married Raymond M. Smith on January 24, 1949 and they raised three children. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Raymond Miller Smith in 1976; and John Benjamin Mollnow in 1985; and brother William Chaney in 2004. Edee graduated from Bellevue High School in Pittsburgh, PA and continued her education at Grove City College, The Ohio State University, and graduated from The University of Pittsburgh. She finished her post graduate work at the State University of NY at Geneseo. While raising her children, she began her career teaching first grade at Perry Elementary School in Perry, NY where she taught for 20 years. She touched many lives and made life-long friendships with those she taught and those she taught alongside. Edee was an avid golfer and enjoyed traveling with friends and family. She was active in her community and loved the out of doors. She is survived by her three children, daughter Gail Smith Stewart, husband Roy of Kansas City; son R. Douglas Smith and wife Jane Bearman Smith of Studio City, CA; and daughter Mary Roberta Smith of Oakland, CA. Three grandchildren: Chad Michael Stewart, wife Jennifer Avery Stewart, Kansas City, MO; Matthew Roy Stewart, wife Holly Major Stewart, Lake Quivira, KS, and Elizabeth "Betsy" Smith of Studio City, CA; and four great grandchildren: Jacob Michael Stewart, Joshua Matthew Stewart, Faith Elizabeth Stewart, and Alaina Grace Stewart.
