Watching the waves and listening to the ocean roar again was the last item on her bucket list. Having accomplished this, on November 2, 2014, she was ready to leave this earth.
Born October 1, 1919, in Portland, MO, one of two daughters, to Everett and Mae Tate, she married John Hughes in April of 1937 and he predeceased her death in 1986. To this union, four children were born: Patty Knarr of Edmond, Oklahoma and Debbie Hughes of the home. She was predeceased by daughter, Sondra Lenati, and son, Larry Hughes.
Edith loved sewing, cooking, hunting mushrooms, picking blackberries, tending her flowers, feeding her birds, playing cards, singing, visiting casinos, and traveling. She was a sport enthusiast, as a participant and a spectator. She bowled and golfed and followed the Royals, the Chiefs and the St. Louis Cardinals.
Edith had seven grandsons, 15 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. She loved her Doxie-Poo, Dandy. She was predeceased by one grandson. Edith loved, and was loved by, a host of family and friends.
A life well lived and we rejoice having had her in our lives for 95 years.
