Eddie "Pete" Mathis, 76, passed away December 25, 2010. Pete was born May 29, 1934 in Marshall, Arkansas. Pete worked 45 years as a brick mason for Local 15 and was known as "Fast Eddie". He played semi-pro basketball for the Boeing Bombers in Wichita, KS. He was a car enthusiast, good pool player and outstanding dancer.Eddie was preceded in death by his father, Earl Elliott; mother, Dessie Robinson; step-father, Vincent Robinson; son, Mark Mathis and great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Denney. Survivors include his wife, Judy; children, Jeff Sorenson (Myah), Debra Mathis, Joe Pete Mathis (LaVae), Jeffrey Tomlin (Glenda) and Joni Rae Phillips; grandchildren, Brandon and Lauren Phillips, Melissa, Shauna and Jesse Tomlin, Trey and Savannah Mathis, Dakota Sorenson (Chrissy), Tyler Drake, Stephanie Schneider (Chris) and Norah Nathan (Jesse); great-granddaughter, Rebbecca Denney; brothers, Stanley Robinson, Alvin Elliott (Joyce),E.G. Elliott and sister, Barbara Lund.Visitation is 1:00-2:00 p.m. followed by funeral service at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 30 at Mount Moriah Terrace Park Funeral Home.
