Drexel Duwayne Bateman, 90, of Gladstone, Mo passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on June 18, 2015. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Monday June 22nd at Gashland Presbyterian Church, 8029 N. Oak, with visitation preceding services from 10:00 – 11:00 am. Burial in Terrace Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to the church or Butterfield Youth Services, Marshall, Mo.
Drexel was a Navy veteran of World War II serving in the South Pacific aboard the USS Mississippi. He was a member of the Rising Sun Masonic Lodge for over 50 years, early member of Gashland Presbyterian church since 1951. He retired from American Bakery in 1977, then was the owner operator of North Oak Furniture and Bed City for 41 years in Gladstone. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Drexel and his wife Rosie recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on June 7th. Survivors include his wife Rosie Bateman, sons and daughters in law, David and Donna Bateman, Bob and Donna Bateman, Mark and Lisa Bateman, 8 grandchildren, and 1 great grandson.
