Dorothy Bauer

Dorothy June Bauer, 85, of Kansas City, Missouri journeyed to Heaven on January 20, 2018.

June was born at the height of the depression, in a farmhouse to Henry and Grace Miller on August 7, 1932 in the rolling hills of Amazonia, Missouri (God’s country as she would say!). She spoke frequently of her early years where she lived on the farm with no running water, outdoor plumbing and no electricity.  She attended Liggett grade school which was a one room school house in Amazonia; and often reflected on “the cold lunches of ‘odds & ends’ that the school kids would put together”.  She moved to St. Joseph, MO in 1944 and later relocated to Kansas City in 1952. She was a member of McMurry United Methodist Church, where she served on various committees and taught Sunday School.  Her most prized occupation was of being a Mother and Grandmother!

June was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers: John, Clarence, Paul & Carl Miller; and one sister, Ruth Steeby.

She is survived by her husband, J. Robert “Bob” Bauer; her children: Bob Bauer (Tammy), Scott Bauer (Mary), and Lisa Albright (James); her 9 grandchildren; her sister, Helen Stoneman. She also had 2 Step-daughters Sandy Allen (Mike) and Debbie Morche (Dennis), 4 step-grandchildren and 6 step-great grandchildren.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 from 5-8 PM at McMurry United Methodist Church, 25 N Eugene Field Rd, Kansas City, MO 64119. Funeral service will be on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at 11:00 AM also at the church. Interment will follow at Terrace Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to McMurray United Methodist Church.  Funds will be proportioned to fund a hot lunch program at a local grade school.
