Donna L. Mowrey, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on November 1,2024 at the age of 85. Born on February 28, 1939, in Kansas City, Missouri, Donna lived a life filled with love, laughter, and unwavering dedication to her family and community.
Donna dedicated herself to her family and her career, first serving as a bus driver for the Park Hill School District, where she made lasting memories driving her daughters to school along her work route. Later, she contributed her talents to the Kansas City Aviation Department. She was well-known and appreciated in her roles, marked by her professionalism and friendly demeanor.
Family was at the heart of Donna's life. She adored her daughters, Stacy and Valerie and cherished every moment spent with her grandchildren: Jeff, Elizabeth, Joshua, Jessica, and Shawna. Donna took immense pride in being a grandmother, actively participating in the lives of her 12 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She deeply valued family traditions and holidays, creating moments that brought everyone together. Her social and kind personality left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Beyond her family, Donna had a passion for hobbies that included sewing and cheering on her favorite local sports teams, the Kansas City Chiefs and the Kansas City Royals. Known for her great sense of humor, she brought joy and warmth to those around her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Nick Lazar and June Dubois, her daughter Deborah Everett; and her great grandson, Chace Freeman. Donna's presence will be profoundly missed by her daughters, Stacy (Alan) Perry, Valerie (Charley) Johnson; grandchildren, Jeff, Elizabeth, Joshua, Jessica, and Shawna (Phillip); 11 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren, and many other family members and friends who will remember her fondly.
A memorial service to honor Donna's life is scheduled for November 11, 2024, at Terrace Park Funeral Home & Cemetery in Kansas City, Missouri, beginning at 10:00 AM. Friends and family are invited to come together to share in the loving memories of this remarkable woman who touched so many lives.
