Donna Mae (Cook) Mast went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, December 13, 2016. Donna was born May 26, 1931, in Kansas City, MO, to Arthur and Ethel (Prunty) Cook. She graduated from Central High School and Bob Jones University, and worked as a clerk/typist for the City Hall and the Social Security Administration. In 1952, Donna met a dashing young U.S. Marine, Roger Mast, from Iowa. They were married on December 19, 1954. Together they raised three children.
Donna was active in her church, Central Bible Church--now Sherwood Bible Church. Over the years, she arranged many church social functions and dinners and helped in the children’s Sunday School and nursery. She also volunteered her time with City Union Mission in their camp and outreach ministries. Donna enjoyed sewing, quilting, embroidering, baking cookies, reading, puzzles, and gardening. A dedicated seamstress, she also created many beautiful items ranging from baby bibs to wedding dresses.
Inside the cover of her Bible, Donna had written a quote from Corrie Ten Boom: “Never be afraid to trust an unknown future to a known God.” It is that God who has now welcomed Donna into heaven.
Donna is survived by her husband of 62 years, Roger Mast, of Gladstone, MO; her daughter, Marilyn Mast Hewitt and husband Paul of Villa Park, IL; her daughter Marlene Webb and husband Bob of Kansas City, MO; and her son Paul Mast and wife Ana of Kansas City, Mo. Donna was also very proud of her eight grandchildren, Hannah, Justin (Amber), Josh, Cosby, Cassie (Ryan), Erica, Jessica, Angela, and one great-grandchild, Tobias.
Special thanks to the staff at NorthCare Hospice for their care and support.
