Donald J. High, 80, Olathe, Kansas, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 5, 2014. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, September 6, 2014 at St Therese Catholic Church, with interment immediately following at Terrace Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends, Friday, September 5, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Terrace Park Funeral Home Chapel, 801 NW 108th Street (Shoal Creek Parkway and Hwy 169). In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in memory of Don be made to The Evergreen Living Community of Johnson County, 11875 S. Sunset Drive, Olathe, KS 66061. Don was born in Toledo, Ohio and was the oldest of 10 children. Career advancement with Dana Corporation brought him to the Northland area of Kansas City early in 1974 where he lived for 40 years.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Kim High-Green, father Kenny High, brother George High, mother Kate High (Mauter), and his beloved wife Sue High (Keller).
Survivors include daughter Julie High, grandchildren Terry and Sara Hodge, great grandchildren Levi and Alexis; grandsons Zachary and Chris Green, great grandson Tucker; son Greg High and daughter-in-law Mary, grandsons Trenton, Grant, and Brett High; sisters Carol (Luscombe), Jeanne (Kinn), Kay (Coss), Jan (Woods), Ginny (Francis), and Margaret (Mahon); brothers Bill and Pete, a host of in-laws, nephews and nieces, several dear friends and extended family members.
Don will always be remembered for his playful sense of humor, resilience and the ability to overcome numerous health and life challenges with positivity. He was a true inspiration to all who knew him and will be deeply missed.
