Donald Peter Demaria, 70, of Kansas City, MO passed away and went to be with the LORD on December 16, 2016. He was surrounded by his family. He was born December 14, 1946 in Syracuse, New York to the late Ermanno and Marion (Cooper) Demaria.
Don was a hardworking, dedicated man. He served his country in the United States Air Force for 20 ½ years. After serving in the military he continued working and retired with the United States Postal Service. Don’s most important role was serving in his church as a deacon, Sunday school teacher and Bible Drill leader.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 47 years, Patricia (Garcia) Demaria; 3 children, Gynetta (Demaria) Thompson married to Christian Thompson, Eric DeMaria married to Marsha DeMaria, Donyala Demaria and “adopted son” Prime Kiangata, a foreign exchange student who became part of the family; 5 grandchildren, Jordyn Demaria-Hall, Hannah Demaria-Hall, Gabriella DeMaria, Adam DeMaria and Mark Thompson; siblings, David Demaria, Paul Demaria and Elizabeth (Demaria) Feeley; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Monday, December 19, 2016 from 4-6 PM at First Baptist Church North Kansas City, 2205 Iron St, North Kansas City, MO 64116. Services will be Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at the church. Burial in Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, KS at 2:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the American Cancer Society or Wounded Warrior Project. Online condolences may be left at TerraceParkFH.com.
