Dolores Bartle

April 14, 1931 — September 6, 2017

Dolores Y. “Dee” Bartle, 86, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at Benton House of Tiffany Springs in Kansas City, MO. Dee was born April 14, 1931 in Neodesha, KS to Lester and Jean Hoff. She graduated with the Neodesha High School class of 1949 where she was an active member of the high school marching band. After high school, she was employed in Parsons, KS and did not have any plans to leave Neodesha. But fate soon came into play on a simple afternoon walk downtown with her mother. A very handsome man happened to drive past them in a shiny, new black car, and he immediately caught her attention. She obviously caught his as well, as he came back to talk to her, and her future was set for the next 60 years. Dee and Jim began their courtship and then moved to his hometown of Coffeyville, KS when they knew they were ready to make a life-long commitment.

On June 7, 1955, Dee and Jim were united in marriage at Holy Name Catholic Church in Coffeyville and had a wonderful, blessed marriage of 59 years before Jim’s passing in 2014. Dee’s first job in Coffeyville was working as a secretary for C. Robert Belt, CPA, a job that she loved and reminisced about the remainder of her life. She only left Mr. Belt as she chose to be a stay at home mom to her two daughters, Lisa and Beth. When the girls began school at Holy Name Elementary School, Dee took a position as the school secretary. She later became the church secretary at Holy Name Catholic Church where she worked up until they moved to Kansas City in 1996 to be near Lisa and Beth and their 5 grandchildren. Dee was very active in the church and a member of the Holy Name Altar Society. God was always the center of Dee’s life, and her lifelong purpose on this earth was to help others see life as the beautiful blessing that she saw it as, through good times and bad. The love she had for her husband, kids, and grandkids was immeasurable. This love was also felt by everyone who came into contact with her, no matter how short or long their time was with her. She was never too busy to listen, to give advice when asked, or to stop and say a prayer for anyone needing one. She was the greatest example of how we all should strive to live our lives, and her kids and grandkids loved her for the example she set daily.

Surviving to honor her memory are her daughters, Lisa (Bob) Begley of Kansas City, Missouri, and Beth Spafford of Olathe, Kansas, grandchildren Jordan (Katie) Cross, Chris (Emma) Spafford, Dani Spafford, Patrick Spafford, and Alex (Alliah Middleton) Spafford, one great-granddaughter, Aubrey Spafford, as well as Dee’s sister, Betty (Bob) Ritz. Dee was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.

Cremation has taken place, and a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Name Catholic Church in Coffeyville at a later date, with burial taking place at Calvary Cemetery.

The family suggests memorial contributions in Dee’s name to Holy Name Catholic Church, 408
Willow Street, Coffeyville, KS, 67337.
