David Lewis Gray, born on November 19, 1962, left this world on December 14, 2024, due to complications with early onset Alzheimer's disease. Dave leaves behind a legacy of passion and dedication as a husband, father, brother, uncle, and an environmental scientist. 

An alumnus with a Bachelor of Science degree from The University of Tampa, Dave was not only a highly intelligent National Honor Society scholar but also a man of diverse interests. He found joy in a variety of activities that enriched his life and the lives of those around him.

One of Dave's most cherished roles was that of "Granddaddy". He loved his grandchildren dearly and took immense pride in being a part of their lives. His ability to share his knowledge in a way that helped them stop, listen, and understand in a meaningul way created lasting memories that will continue to resonate within the hearts of his loved ones. 

Dave's commitment to the environment was reflected in his professional endeavors at Tetra Tech as well as using his personal time to attend geocaching cleanup events, helping with the shuttle clean up in Florida, and assisting with the clean up efforts in the aftermath of California wild fires. 

His love for geocaching was more than a hobby; it was a way for him to explore the outdoors, uncover hidden treasures, make new friends, and enjoy nature's beauty. 

Sports were a pivotal part of his life. Dave was an award-winning runner. He loved all sports and was especially fond of baseball. Dave was a devoted fan of the Atlanta Braves and the Kansas City Royals, often cheering for his teams with unwavering loyalty. He was affectionately known as “Brave Dave” among friends and family, a testament to his spirited enthusiasm for the game. 

Also among his many passions, deep-sea fishing stood out as a favorite pastime. Dave found excitement in spending the day catching fish and bringing them home to cook. 

As a vibrant spirit who brought laughter and knowledge into the lives of those around him, David Lewis Gray will be remembered fondly by family and friends alike. His legacy of environmental stewardship, adventurous spirit, incredible intelligence, and deep familial love leaves an indelible mark on all who had the privilege to know him. 

Dave was preceded in death by his parents: Cecil and Patricia Gray; aunt: Maggie Murphy; and niece: Kristen Mohn. 

He is survived by his wife of 33 years: Irene Gray; step-children: Clair Atkins, Raymond (Cara) Crabtree, son Andrew, daughter Addison; and Daniel (Sarah) Crabtree, daughter Penelope, daughter Harper; as well as his siblings: Sharon (Dan) Mohn, son Erik, 2 grandchildren; Charlie (Marge) Gray, son Geoff, son Kevin, 2 grandchildren; Kathie (Greg) Pope, daughter Whitney, daughter Marissa; Paul Gray (Mark Allen), daughter Sarah, 3 grandchildren.
