David Allen King Sr., 84, of Parkville, Missouri went to be with his Lord and Savior on May 26, 2024.
Born on January 15, 1940, in Seligman, Missouri, to Ezra and Josephine King, David grew up in Rogers, Arkansas, where he graduated high school. He then moved to the Kansas City area, dedicating 36 years of service to Union Pacific Railroad. David shared 40 wonderful years of marriage with the love of his life, Bernadina. Together, they traveled the world, taking cruises and visiting destinations like Russia, the Philippines, Sweden, Hong Kong, Mexico, Alaska, Hawaii, and many more.
A passionate sports enthusiast, David coached his son and granddaughter’s baseball teams as well as his daughter's bowling team, played numerous rounds of golf, and avidly followed the Kansas City Chiefs and Royals. He started each day with the newspaper and crossword puzzles and enjoyed watching "Jeopardy," even applying to be a contestant.
David was a devout Christian, volunteering extensively at his church. He mowed the lawn, worked as a greeter, and even assisted with the accounting tasks.
David is preceded by parents, two sisters, and children, Debbie Kammler and Dana Estrada. He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his wife, Bernadina; children, Helen Velasquez (Rick), David Allen King Jr. (Karen), and Gerri Franks (Mike); 19 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild; sisters, Leona and Norma Jane; and numerous extended family and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at New Hope Church of the Nazarene on Saturday , June 1st; with visitation starting at 3:00pm, followed by the funeral service at 4:00pm.
