CLINTON SPENCER SHEUMAKER, 91, of Foxwood Springs Senior Retirement Community, Raymore, MO, passed away January 24, 2013. Visitation will be at 1:00 and funeral services at 2:00 on Saturday, February 2, 2013 at Mt. Moriah Terrace Park Funeral Home followed by burial with military honors. The fourth of ten surviving children, Clint was born February 18, 1921 in Malta, MT. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II as a B-26 Marauder top gunner and radio man on 45 bombing missions over Italy and Germany. On September 7, 1946 he married the lovely LaVon Hartschen. He graduated from Iowa State College (now University) with a Professional Engineering Degree in Agricultural Engineering. His career began in Iowa with the Soil Conservation Service. From Iowa they moved to Nebraska, then in 1963 they settled in Kansas City, MO. In 1986, he retired from the Kansas City Water Department, where he had worked for 17 years. Along with his wife, he was an active member of the Meadowbrook United Methodist Church in Gladstone, MO, for nearly 50 years. They volunteered by delivering Meals on Wheels and helping with the construction of several Habitat for Humanity homes. As active travelers and RVers they visited most of the 50 states, Canada, Mexico and many European countries. He was an avid reader and enjoyed playing all kinds of sports and table games. For many years, he regularly attended A's, Royals and Chiefs games. Most important of all, he was a beloved member of a large, close-knit extended family. He is survived by three sisters, one brother, LaVon, his devoted wife of 66 years; three sons, Craig (Suzanne) Sheumaker, Rancho Murieta, CA, Gary (Sally) Sheumaker, Grandview, MO, Rodney (Michelle Morley) Sheumaker, Colorado Springs, CO; five grandchildren, one step-grandchild and four great grandchildren.
