Cletus Duane "Mudcat" Murray, 49, of Kansas City, Missouri passed away on January 12, 2019.
Cletus was born at North Kansas City Hospital on December 29, 1969. He was known for his work hard, play hard attitude. An example of his incredible work ethic was his ability to purchase his own 18-wheeler, which he used to start his own company, driving and leasing trucks to other vendors. When he wasn't driving trucks he spent much of his time racing stock cars at the local dirt tracks, earning him the nickname "Mudcat Murray". He had won championships in 2003 at the US 36/Bethany Raceway and Winston/I-35 Speedway, and continued his success even earning trophies as points leader at his home track (I-35) in 2017.
Cletus is preceded in death by his father, Garry Murray. He leaves behind his two children; Allison K. Murray and Jackson D. Murray; mother and step father; Cathy and Charles Adkins; sisters, Tammy Monaco, Shirley Kerr, and Brandi Rasmussen; grandfather, Cletus Hart; aunts, Emma (aka Nanny), Laura Bright Pierson, and LeAnn Bright Johnson; two step brothers and lots of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
