Clara J. Smith, 86, of Kansas City, passed away August 2, 2021, at North Kansas City Hospital. Visitation will be 1-3pm on Saturday, August 7, at Terrace Park Funeral Home, with services to follow at 3pm. The service will be livestreamed beginning at 3pm. Clara was born on January 31, 1935, in Panama City, Iowa, to Steven and Barbra (Pauley) Sandbothe. She was born and raised Catholic and was a true Christian to this day; she loved Jesus and God.
Clara was a go-getter who did many exciting things: she square danced up until the pandemic, loved to jet ski and water ski until she was 60, rode a Honda 350 Motorcycle for years, and even rode a Trike motorcycle until she was 75 and an adult Tricycle until her last days. She also loved the Golden Girls!
Clara loved to talk and did she ever! She talked to everyone and never met a stranger. She always wanted to help everyone and dearly loved her four children: Linda, Lyla, Lisa, and Lloyd. Clara fought dementia for the last 10 years but her loving and adventurous spirit never faded.
Clara was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lloyd Smith; two brothers, Vernan and Russel; and three sisters: Bernice, Mary, and Bonnie. She leaves behind her children: Linda Ozar, Lyla Harris (husband, Joe), Lisa Eslinger, and Lloyd Smith (wife, Karie); grandchildren: Angela LeMaster (Braden), Jared Ozar (Cheleena), Cody Smith (Hannah), Amber Eslinger, Kyle Eslinger (Sarah), Joy Eslinger (Ron), and Jason Eslinger (Angela); and great grandchildren: Aaron, Trey, Tanner, Julian, Taya, Tryston, Katlyn, Gavin, Bella, and Kingsley.
