Cheryl Jean Taylor, 73 years old, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at home surrounded by her family. Cheryl was born to Davie and Betty Chaney on June 21, 1951, in Kansas City, Missouri. She was a 1969 graduate of North Kansas City High School. Cheryl met her loving husband, Marvin Taylor, Jr., at high school in her junior year. They were married on November 29, 1969, and recently celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary. Cheryl retired from an accounting career.
Over the past four years, Cheryl battled some tough medical conditions that required a lot of faith, courage, and strength. She fought chronic pain daily, yet she continued to do some of her favorite things with her husband, like traveling, participating in the Northwest Model A club, and spending time with her family. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren which always brought her joy. In December of 2021, Cheryl was diagnosed with breast cancer and fought courageously to become a breast cancer survivor. She was proud to be a breast cancer survivor for three years. Unfortunately, on January 15, 2025, Cheryl was admitted to North Kansas City Hospital, where she learned she had stage four metastatic breast cancer in her liver. On January 17, 2025, Cheryl returned home, where she was taken care of by her husband, children, and the KC Hospice team.
Cheryl is survived by her husband (Marvin) Taylor; daughter Christy (Rodney) Weymuth; daughter Tina (Mike) Henry; and son David (Terri) Taylor; sisters Pam (Jim) Massey and Lee Ann (Chris) Lukasiewicz. Cheryl also leaves behind nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Davie (Betty) Chaney.
Family, friends, and others are invited to Terrace Park Funeral Home, 801 NW 108th Street, Kansas City, Missouri, 64155,on Saturday, February 1, 2025 for a visitation at 1:00 pm followed by a service at 2:00 pm to reminisce and honor the life of Cheryl.
