Charles Lewis

Charles E. Lewis, 74, passed away July 18, 2014.  He passed away from just over a year battle with cancer.  Charles is survived by his wife Darlene C. Lewis, love of his life for 49 years.  A visitation will be held Wednesday, July 23rd from 5:00-7:00 PM at Terrace Park Funeral Home &
Cemetery, 801 NW 108th Street, Kansas City, MO 64155.

The funeral service will be Thursday, July 24th at 10:00 AM at Terrace Park Funeral Home & Cemetery with reception to follow in Terrace Park Funeral Home & Cemetery Interment Chapel.

Charles was born April 28, 1940 in Greenville, PA where he graduated from Greenville High School in 1958.  Charles proudly served in the United States Air Force as a member of the 27th Fighter Interceptor Squadron in Limestone, Maine.  He then attended Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics and served in Civil Air Patrol after serving in the Air Force.  Charles went to work for TWA as a mechanic and worked for them until he retired.  He was a member of the International Association of Machinists & Aerospace Workers Union Local 1650 and the American Legion, Post 3 in Kansas City, MO.  Charles volunteered his time after retirement to the National Airline History Museum where he helped with restoring the DC-3 and maintaining other aircraft at the museum.  Additionally, he continued to be an accomplished bowler in several different leagues at Gladstone Bowl and N.K.C. Pro Bowl.  Charles is also survived by his sons, Charles (Becky) Lewis II and John (Deana) Lewis, five grandchildren, and sisters Katherine (Fred) Heinlen and Gertrude Warren.
