Charles Franklin Garrett, 70, of Kansas City, MO passed away on February 24, 2019.
Charles was born on August 2, 1948 to Henry and Vivian Garrett in Kansas City, MO. He was in the first graduating class of Oak Park High School in 1966. He frequently cruised around Antioch Shopping Center where he met his wife of nearly fifty years, Roberta Smith. They were married on April 25, 1969. Charles began his career as a painter at Black, Sivalls, and Bryson working with his father. He later began painting for Ford Motor Company until he retired after 30 years of service. He was a proud member of the Mason’s Society in Liberty, achieving his 3rd degree. Charles had many hobbies and pastimes, especially spending time outdoors, water skiing, hunting, teaching family members how to fish (especially his granddaughter), camping, and traveling across North America. He was a member of the National Campers and Hikers Association.
Charles is preceded in death by his parents; son, Charles Henry; and brother Leonard Kreinbring.
He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his wife, Roberta; daughter, Lacie (Jeff) Crosthwait, granddaughter, Courtney Rose Lair; sister, Jo Ann Hylton; his beloved dog, Bandy; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Terrace Park Funeral Home on Friday, March 1, 2019 at 3:00pm, with visitation beginning at 2:00pm. Burial will follow at East Slope Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
