Charles Bernardic

January 12, 1925 — January 3, 2022

Charles Edward Bernardic, 96, passed away on January 3, 2022. Charles was born on January 12, 1925 in Youngstown, Ohio to George and Helen (Sinkovich) Bernardich. He left high school to enlist in the United States Army where he served for 2 years. After his departure from the military he moved to Kansas City, Missouri to pursue a career in television as a cameraman. It was soon after that he met Mary Weathers and the two were married in August of 1955. Charlie and Mary spent many years enjoying each other’s company and dancing to polka music. Charlie worked for many years as a clerk for various railroad companies. After he retired he continued to stay active and was well known in the Gladstone area, because he was always seen taking his daily 6-8 mile walks around town. He was also an avid Chiefs fan and worked at Arrowhead during Chiefs games and events for over 35 years as a ticket taker and did this until the fall of 2008. Charlie was an avid gardener, always tilling up the back yard dirt every spring planting tomatoes, zucchini, peppers, squash, cucumbers, green beans.  He loved planting flowers in the spring time.He taught himself how to build things around the house, like adding on the room addition to the family home and building planters.   He loved yard work and was always out raking leaves, neighbor's leaves and shoveling snow, even last year at 96. Charlie was a practical joker, always kidding around with others.  He loved his grandchildren and enjoyed his great-grandchildren immensely.  He will forever live on in our hearts and memory.

Charles is preceded in death by parents; wife; infant daughter, Cheryl Linda; and the following sisters and brothers:  Frank Bernardich, Mary Bernat, Helen Bonwick, Jennie Popovich, George Bernardich, and Peter Bernardich.  He is survived by a living sister, Catherine DeNiro. Survived by daughter Karen Evans, son K. Edward Bernardic.  Grandchildren Emily Evans (spouse-Matt Griggs), Scott Evans (spouse-Kasey), Merissa Bernardic Godding (spouse-Mason), and Taylor Bernardic Ahmad (spouse-Nabil), and two great grandchildren, Hank and Hallie Evans.
