Celeste “Birdie” Hoover, 90, of Kansas City, Missouri passed away on Saturday, June 9, 2018. She was born March 15, 1928 in Brookfield, MO to the late James Norman and Lena Ethel Arr.
Celeste retired after many years of service from the North Kansas City School District’s Food Service Kitchen Management. She had a love for cooking and baking, most notably she will be remembered for her cookies – whether sending them home with grandchildren or delivering them to friends, most remember her as the Cookie Lady. She showed her love by providing great meals that brought her family together.
She is survived by son Lyle (Deborah) Hoover, daughters Arla Gentry, Sharon (Tal) Henderson and Linda (Everett) King; 11 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild.
In addition to her parents, Celeste is preceded in death by her husband, William H. Hoover and her siblings: Norman Arr, Evelyn Arr, Merle Arr, and David Arr.
Visitation will be Saturday, June 16, 2018 from 2:00 PM until time of service at 3 PM at Terrace Park Funeral Home, 801 NW 108th St. (169 Hwy & Shoal Creek) Kansas City, MO.
