Cecil Dale Woods, 76, passed away on October 14, 2019. Dale was born at home during a snow storm on January 27, 1943 in Kansas City, MO to Ivan Earl and Juanita (Beller) Woods. He grew up in Harlem, MO and Kansas City North. Dale was a proud member of the Tribe of Mic-O-Say. Dale was an avid outdoorsman and loved riding his horse, Ribbon, and hunt for mushrooms in the springtime. He was very proud of his family heritage, working for many years to trace his family tree. He was also a lover of history. In his younger years, he was a member of Roadrunners Car Club and the National Hot Rod Association. He worked as a rate analyst for INL Freight Lines until he retired in 1973. Dale dedicated his life to his family and was a wonderful and loving son, father, and grandfather. He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother. He is survived by his children, Daniel Woods and Julie Woods; grandchildren, Ashley, Erica, and Dalton Woods and Ava Ely; and great grandson, Jaxson Levi Woods; and two brothers. He is also survived by his ex-wife and friend, Jacqueline Woods , and his lifelong best friend, Edward Long.
A celebration of his life will be held on Friday, October 18th at 2:00pm, with a visitation at 1:00pm, and burial following, at Terrace Park Lakeside Chapel. In honor of Dale’s love for animals, contributions may be made to Kansas City Pet Project.
