Carroll Mills

Carroll Lea Mills, 68, of Kansas City, Missouri, was released from her earthly body and returned Home on March 3rd, 2022.

Carroll was born at St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri on September 11th, 1953 to her loving parents, Russell and Dixie. Carroll was a member of Westport High School’s class of 1971, and then graduated with her nursing degree from St. Luke’s College of Nursing. Carroll became a labor and delivery nurse at St. Luke's Hospital, a career she had dreamed of since childhood. She often remarked she couldn’t believe she got paid to do what she always wanted. She spent 44 years living out this calling, and did so with incredible care and love for families as they welcomed their newborns into the world.

On November 21st, 1977 Carroll married Greg Mills, whom Carroll described as “the best.” In 2002 Carroll and Greg renewed their vows at the same church, and by the same minister, with all three of their children present. They spent 44 years alongside one another, growing and leading their family with love, joy, and togetherness.

Those who are loving Carroll earth-side include her husband Greg Mills; daughter Melissa Steinke (Jason); son Ryan Mills (Rebecca); daughter Kristin Mills (Jodie); son-in-law Jeremy Trowbridge; eight grandchildren: Samantha, Gabriella, Hanna, Madison, Addyson, Grayson, Genevieve, and Jack; Step-mother Caring Crews; two brothers, Steve (Joy) Crews, & Ron (Jo) Crews; sister Diane Dethloff, and many loving nieces, nephews, & friends.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers a donation be made to The Relief Society of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in care of the family. A donation box will also be placed at the church on the day of the service.
