Carroll E. Ball

Carroll Edward Ball passed away on November 20, 2024 at NKC Hospital. He was 85 years old. Carroll was born April 24, 1939 in Forty-Four, Arkansas to Willie Washington Ball and Jewell Anis Stroud-Ball. As a young boy, Carroll grew up in Flat Rock, Arkansas before moving to Oxford, Arkansas where his parents made Oxford their permanent home. Carroll always had a love for the outdoors and wildlife. He spent every chance he could hunting and fishing with his brother’s during his youth and young adulthood, and eventually with his two boys when they were just big enough to carry in the woods and to the fishing hole. All these hunting and fishing trips gave Carroll the opportunity to let you know about that big buck that barely got away or the big fish that just slipped off the hook as he was about to reel him in. Dad carried the love of hunting and fishing with him till the day he passed, as he reminisced about hunting in Michigan and missing that big buck once again when he fell from his nephew’s tree stand. 

Carroll graduated high school from Oxford High School in 1958. He later married his high school sweetheart, Peggy Jo Taylor on March 6, 1960. Carroll and Peggy soon moved to Kansas City, Missouri to live and raise a family. Carroll worked at a variety of jobs over the last 60 plus years. These jobs were all considered blue collar jobs. Carroll was a hard worker and only knew how to work hard. 

Carroll was a man of few words but when he spoke you listened. Except for Peggy. Her hearing was selective when Carroll spoke.

 As much as Carroll loved the outdoors, his love for his family was even greater. His wife, Peggy and his three kids Rocky, Randy and Kim were his everything. 

 Carroll is survived by his loving wife Peggy of 64 years. His daughter, Kimberly Davenport and son-in-law, Mark Davenport. His daughter-in-law Tami Ball, eight grandchildren, Nicholas Ball, Lacey Bird, Anna Ball, Christopher Morrison, Jennifer Morrison, Rocky Ball, Jr., Katie Ball and Jenna Davenport. Four great grandchildren, Ezra, Eliza, Elliott and Everett Bird. Two brothers, Harold Ball and Darrell Ball, one sister, Willene Grimmett Killian and several loving nieces and nephews. Carroll was proceeded in death by his parents, Willie and Jewell Ball. His brother Edgar Ball. His two beloved sons, Rocky Ball and Randy Ball. Daughter-in-law Lisa Ball, Son-in-law Paul Morrison and infant granddaughter Marki Davenport. 

Carroll was a loving Husband, Dad, Grandpa, Brother and Uncle.
