Carla Jeanne Porter, 74, of Osceola, MO died at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, MO on Tuesday, January 26, 2016. She was born August 17, 1941, in Concord, CA to the late John T. and Mable (Dopp) Henson.
Jeanne was a navy Wave who served at the U.S. Naval Hospital, Bethesda, Maryland and from there was transferred to the U.S. Naval Air Test Center at Patuxent River, Maryland (PAX River) She was assigned to Flight Test and met Lester Porter who was assigned to Weapons Systems Test. They were married on base at the NAS Chapel, Patuxent River, Maryland on January 19, 1962. Jeanne was honorably discharged from the Navy on April 27, 1962. She worked as a professional cook for 28 years and was the manager for the Employees Cafeteria of the Hyatte Regency in Kansas City. She was a member of the Grave United Methodist Church in Osceola, MO. In addition to her husband, Lester, Jeanne is survived by her children Timothy (Terri) Porter, Lisa (David) Allen and Caleb (Liz) Porter; grandchildren, Curtis and Judy and great-grandchildren Mercedes and Douglas. Also surviving are extended family and friends.
Funeral service will be Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at 1 PM at the Lakeside Chapel at Terrace Park Funeral Home, 801 NW 108th St. (169 Hwy & Shoal Creek) Kansas City, MO.
