Carl A. Royston, 91, of Kansas City, Missouri passed away peacefully Sunday, March 5, 2017. He was born April 29, 1925 in Gallatin, MO to Jewell and Roberta (Beckwith) Royston.
Carl was a veteran of WWII. After serving his country, he met Lenora Louise Murphey and on June, 19, 1948 they were joined in marriage in Wichita, KS. To this union, three children were born. Carl retired after 40 years of work from AMOCO Petroleum. Once retired, he enjoyed traveling with his wife and children all throughout the country. In his free time, he took up bowling and golf. Carl was a member of the Masonic Lodge in St. Joseph and Overland Park. He also was a member of the Platte Woods United Methodist.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Dawna Leamon.
He is survived by his wife of almost 70 years, Lenora; 2 daughters, Carlene S. Vining, of St. Joseph, MO, Maxine L. (Tom) Croy, of Kansas City, MO; son, Phillip C. (Amy) Royston, of Overland Park, KS; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a brother; J.R. Royston of Wichita, KS and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Thursday, March 9, 2017 from 1:30-2:00 PM with Services immediately following at 2 PM at Terrace Park Funeral Home; 801 NW 108th St. (169 Hwy & Shoal Creek) Kansas City, MO. Burial with Military Honors to follow in Terrace Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Cross Roads Hospice, Kansas City, MO.
