Carl Koon

February 25, 1928 — October 31, 2016

Carl E. Koon, 88, of Kansas City, MO, passed away with his family by his side on Monday, October 31, 2016. He was born February 25, 1928, in Weston, Missouri to the late John E. and Alta (Young) Koon.

Carl Proudly served in the United States Air Force; he married Virginia West on October 27, 1951. They moved to Kansas City, MO in 1952. Carl and Virginia were charter members of Meadowbrook United Methodist Church, for 54 years. He was an Eagle Scout and proud that his 3 son's also made Eagle Scout; he was a 23 year volunteer for Meals on Wheels, and a 16 year volunteer for North Kansas City Hospital; he will forever be remember by his family and friends as a selfless person who had a quick wit and a war chest of jokes.

He is survived by his 3 sons Gary Koon (Wendy); Robert Koon (Kathy); Steven Koon (Traci); 7 grandchildren Stephanie Wagner (Paul); Ashley Gemmell (Kegan); Brian Koon (Barbara); Katelin Koon; Kelsey Kelley (Grant) ; Derek Koon and Denton Koon; 5 great-grandchildren: Daniel Wagner, Matthew Wagner, Hannah Elizabeth Gemmell, Riley Lynn Kelley and Owen Thomas Koon; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Friday, November 4, 2016 at 10 AM with funeral service beginning at 11:30 AM at Good Shephard Gladstone (Formerly Meadowbrook United Methodist Church), 2800 NE 64th St. Gladstone, MO 64119 Interment with military honors will follow at Terrace Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Boy Scouts Heart of America Council 10210 Holmes Road, Kansas City, MO 64131 for the H. Row Bartel Scout Reservation.
