Caren Kathleen Fletcher, age 80, went to be with her Lord and Savior on December 30, 2023, in Kansas City, Missouri. She was born on March 17, 1943, in Peru, Indiana. Caren was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend.
Caren Fletcher deeply loved the Lord, her family, and friends with her whole heart. She was an outdoor person who cherished days spent outdoors surrounded by nature. Flowers, birds, dragonflies, and butterflies held a special place in her heart. Caren found joy in nurturing and tending to her garden, watercolor painting, and arranging flowers for the dining room tables at The Gardens at Barry Road, where she resided. She also never missed an episode of General Hospital. She spent several years as a homemaker and took great pride in caring for her family. Shortly after her children began school, she started her career. Caren worked for Southwestern Bell, AT&T, and Associated Plastic Surgeons.
Caren will be deeply missed by her surviving family members, including her daughters, Denise Higgins (Don), Debbie Petroll, and Dawn Wessling (Brian). She was a loved grandmother to Kyle Higgins (Ashleigh), Jeremy Higgins, Conner Higgins, Emily Schol, Rachel Johnson (Rich), Austin Wessling (Samantha), and Justus Lindsay. Caren was also a great-grandmother to Max Johnson and Beckham Johnson. She is survived by her nieces, Nancy Houser and Kimberly Rockford (Louis); nephew, Gene Wentz (Ellen); along with great nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Caren was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Rollie Fletcher Jr.; her brother, Fred Wentz; sister-in-law, Sharon Wentz; sister, Beverly Olson; daughter, Dena Lindsay; and grandson, Joshua Lindsay.
A private celebration of life for family will be held, followed by graveside services. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Alzheimer's Association or by planting a tree or butterfly bush in memory of Caren Fletcher.
The family would like to thank the staff and her friends at The Gardens at Barry Road for the care and love that they bestowed on her throughout her later years.
May her soul find eternal peace, and may her memory be a blessing to all who knew her.
