Burl R. Wilson, 92 of Kansas City, MO died on May 6, 2016 at North Kansas City Hospital after an extended illness. He was born March 18, 1924 in Blytheville, AR to the late Ernest and Nannie (Lucy) Wilson.
He proudly served in the U.S. Army during WWII; he married Betty when he returned and they remained married for 68 years. He was a Power Plant Manager working for Entergy Corp, Past President of the Rotary Club, and Ordained as a Deacon in the Southern Baptist Church in 1955 and was a dedicated member of Linden Baptist Church. He enjoyed all things outdoors, fishing, duck hunting, baseball; he was drafted by the Detroit Tigers out of High School, but couldn’t make a living at it so he came back to the family farm. He truly loved life and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was the 7th of 10 children and the last to pass away.
Burl is survived by his loving wife Betty, sons John (Twyla) Wilson, Barry (Christine) Wilson and Bryan Wilson. Cherished grandfather of Ashley Wilson and Chloe Yonke,
Visitation will be Tuesday, May 10, 2016 from 1 PM until time of service at 2 PM at Linden Baptist Church 611 NE 69th St. Gladstone, MO 64118. Interment will follow at Terrace Park Cemetery.
