Bobby Gene Manlove, 86, passed away July 14, 2021. Visitation will be at Terrace Park Funeral Home on Monday, July 19 from 10-11am followed by services at 11am. Burial will take place at Terrace Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Bobby’s name are suggested to the Christ Lutheran Church New Organ Fund, or to the Alzheimer’s Association.
Bobby was born on August 8, 1934, in Rothville, Mo, to Leroy Eugene and Eugenia Maxine (Thompson) Manlove. He grew up in Rothville, was a graduate of Northwestern High School in Mendon, Mo, and attended the University of Missouri. After college, Bob began his lifelong career with the railroad, starting with Santa Fe. Bob and Shirley moved numerous times all over the country for his job and he held many positions within the railroad, including being the designer of the RR Hump Yard in Argentine, Ks, and later becoming the head of Railroad Crossing Security for several Midwest states. After his retirement on August 1, 1999 from BNSF, Bob was hired back as a consultant where he worked for 14 more years before his final retirement.
Bob enjoyed playing Bridge, golfing, gardening, cigars, crossword puzzles, family reunions, Happy Hours, attending National Railroad Association Meetings, and traveling with Shirley after his retirement. He was a joke-teller who truly loved visiting with people and especially adored spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Connie Soden; and two grandsons, Ronald D. Mason, Jr. and Bobby Paul Mason. He is survived by his wife, Shirley, of 66 years; daughters: Cindy Rhodus-Mingee (Bill), Rhonda McKinnon (John) and Lora Black (Gerry); grandchildren: Aaron Rhodus, Aubrey Ziller, Tara Westerhof, Ashlee Peterson, Travis Soden, Lindsay Tiehen, and Austin Seymour; step grandchildren, Brandon Mingee and Brett Mingee; 14 great grandchildren; a sister, Wanda “Toots” Phinney (Charles); and nieces, nephews and other relatives.
